When my dad was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona, my grandparents (Bud and Lillian Leonard) would come and live with us about 3 months each winter. I loved that time! Yet, there was one thing that bugged me. Nanny--my grandmother--absolutely loved the Lawrence Welk show--probably because of her musical background and great singing voice. My dad liked it, too--or at least pretended that he did. Therefore, we all had to watch it every time that it was on TV in spite of the moaning, groaning, and protests from Gramps, mom, and me. Funny thing, I now occasionally watch old reruns of the Lawrence Welk Show and actually enjoy them at times--maybe because of the memories of times with my family that they conjur up more than the actual show.
